I look at those bookshelves and there standing shoulder to shoulder are so many of my true friends and companions over many years. I suppose it would be true to say that some of all the knowledge those books contain has been filed somewhere in my mind – although betimes a little jumbled, and increasingly more difficult to find. There is consolation however in the thought that one might also truly say that whatever knowledge may be deposited in my ageing brain is not just what those books contain! For I have lived over a fair span of years, and it is accepted widely that to live is to learn! Little however as that knowledge may be – considering the accumulated wisdom of the ages, and the high-technological knowledge of modern days, of which I know so little – I feel comfortable and happy with it and thank the God of all knowledge for whatever little enlightenment He has bestowed upon me.
