Spring unveiled herself this week and the last desolate, dripping fogs and mists of Winter were dispelled by a keen, bright, hopeful, capricious sun showing her calling card. She displayed her full multicoloured basket of flowers; buds burst open on the trees with the surge of the rising sap. She painted over winter’s drabness with a greening hand. Birds preened and sang exultantly and people chattered light-heartedly; face lines softened and there were infectious outbreaks of smiles. There was indeed more than a hint of the coming joy and hope of Easter. As for me – I stepped out eagerly to greet the new season. It was good – so very good – to be alive this week!
